Rod Millen cannons his Toyota Celica towards the summit of Pikes peak to win the 1996 international hillclimb event. The 90's saw a battle between the Kiwi Millen, driving Toyota's, and Japan's Nobuhiro "Monster" Tajima (so named for his towering stature against the average asian height), representing Suzuki. Millen had to relinquish the title to Tajima in '95 after his Celica was slowed by the inclement weather. He returned the following year to reclaim the title. Such was Millen's dominance over the years, Pikes peak became known as 'Millen's mountain'.
